Olympia Supply, Service by Tradition.
Remember the old fashioned hardware store? Well, step into Olympia Supply Company and experience 100 years and 3 generations of hardware history. Established in 1906 by Earl Bean, and currently owned by his grandson, Jeff Bean, this store has character (and characters). The first thing you will notice is the incredible variety of merchandise offered. The second is the service offered by a knowledgeable staff that understands you, the customer.
Olympia Supply was built with tradition. The girders that support the current building at 625 Columbia Street SW came from the remains of the former Narrows "Galloping Gertie" Bridge. A 1912 vintage NCR brass cash register sits in a place of honor and continues to ring true. One wall holds a display of tools that goes back decades. You may even get a chance to visit with "Uncle Ben, the second generation Bean who stops in on most days. These and other reflections of history coexist with hard to find items and latest and greatest tools on the market.
Always big in pipe, fittings, valves, nuts and bolts and steel product, Olympia Supply joined the True Value (Start Right, Start Here) Cooperative in 1980 to better serve their specialized clientele. Today Jeff Bean readily acknowledges that the clientele has expanded to include homeowners who value their hard earned dollar and aren't afraid to try their hand at home repair and improvement projects. Whether it's a major purchase or a single bolt, you'll find what you need.
So, if you're in a hurry to get back home because the kitchen drain is in pieces or the front door is falling off its hinges, the staff will get you in and out quickly. Be warned however, you may find once you enter this old fashioned hardware store that your mind conjures up visions of projects to come. But don't worry; Olympia Supply isn't going anywhere as long as the next three generations of customers are as loyal as the last three generations.
